X Anniversary Noche de Musica
The Tenth Anniversary Noche de Musica sponsored by The American Women's Literary Club, concert and cocktail took place in September in the Residence of Australia in Barranco, thanks to Ambassador John Woods and his wife Gay, who welcomed guests for this event.
This year, we presented cellist Jose Quezada Marquez, and his Lima Triumphante String Quartet, a group of young, very accomplished Peruvian musicians who bring lost music to light and give popular music a new feel.
The program included baroque and classical music and a selection of Peruvian classical music and jazz.
We raffled a door prize for guests, courtesy of Ning Ning Li, recipient of the 2012 AWLC Artists Showcase "Rising Star" Award, who donated one of her paintings, "A Wish on the Waves on New Year's Day," pictured below.
The proceeds of this event went to help pre-service teachers complete their studies at the Instituto Pedagogico Nacional, the only accredited teachers college in Peru, and an AWLC project for more than 30 years.
