Authors Night in Barranco

The American Women's Literary Club and the Victoria Bar celebrated the release of the Spanish edition of  Lima Nights, written by Marie Arana, translated by Ezio Neyra, and published by Animal de Invierno.

Authors Marie Arana, Alonso Cueto and Ezio Neyra talked to a large group of members and guests on how Lima, "the City of Kings", influences their work.

We thank Victoria Bar for the location and complimentary cocktails.

Donations continue to be welcome, proceeds of which will go towards funding the AWLC's second annual English Challenge contest for students. Your support would make it possible to fund this special collaboration with Enseña Peru.

If you missed the event, you can listen to it in our "Recorded Programs" section.

Changing the World, One Girl at a Time

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Royal Park Hotel, we were able to share a very special evening with Marie Arana, accompanied by the delightful jazz of Ipso Facto!

Marie spoke to us about the role of girls' education in development and on her experience as part of the groundbreaking film project "Girl Rising" by Oscar-nominated director Richard Robbins.

The special treat that evening was a special showing of the Peru portion of the film which had recently wowed audiences at the Sundance Film Festival.

The film shows the inspiring stories of 10 girls from 10 countries and is narrated by Liam Neeson, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Salma Hayak among others.
